Tennis In The Face is an arcade title from indie studio 10tons ltd. Players will go from level to level, solving puzzles, taking out enemies with various items such as tennis balls and energy drinks.
Players take the role of Pete Paggasi, a disgraced tennis player who blames his downfall on the energy drink “Explodz” and vows to take down the company, with an Explodz-addicted country in his way. Gameplay is extremely simple. Use a reticle to guide your shots in each level taking out the various characters in each level.
The game uses ragdoll physics in each level, sometimes letting you use it to your advantage. The game will rate you based on how many shots you take, with a par for each level. There are also medals for various challenges in each section.
After no time at all the game lost its appeal and felt too repetitive. The puzzles maintain some level of creativity but start to blend into each other fairly quickly. After three sets of puzzles, I felt little desire to continue. This game is much more suited for Android or iOS, letting you play on the go doing a few rounds at a time. Short sessions are preferred for a game like this. It’s play style and general format feel on par with mobile favorites Cut The Rope and Angry Birds.
Tennis In The Face is an amusing game that remains average throughout. You shouldn’t expect too much variety for a game like this. Now, I’m not saying it’s not enjoyable, it’s just not really home on an Xbox. I’d enjoy this much more on my phone. If you are in the market for a new game to pass the time on the go, swing on over to the Google Play or AppStore store and pick this up for a few bucks. As for the Xbox, it is a pass.
